to the ASTON HISTORY GROUP
Aston together with the hamlets of Cote, Chimney and Shifford make up a civil parish four miles south of Witney, a market town in West Oxfordshire. Aston is steeped in history starting from Iron Age settlements, to King Alfred’s Witan at Shifford, through to skirmishes of the English Civil War, and the more recent economic and social changes of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
The ASTON HISTORY GROUP meets in the Fellowship Centre in Cote Road, Aston on the last Thursday of the month at 7:30pm.
New members and guests are always welcome. If you are interested in becoming a member please visit our About Us page. For non-members, there is a small charge of £2 per visit.

Guest speakers attend the monthly meetings, giving talks and demonstrations on a range of local history topics; talks are followed by light refreshments.
We maintain an extensive archive of documents and photographs and continue to research the parish’s history, record memories and to preserve our past. We would love to hear from you if you have any information or photographs which may be of interest.
The group has published local history books, together with a film and an illustrated map. For information and availabilty see Publications.
